Overwhelming circumstances like poverty, substance abuse, or domestic violence increase incidences of child abuse or neglect. Many parents striving to provide a safe and stable home for their children face an uphill battle.
Casa de Esperanza – meaning “House of Hope for Children” – helps families in crisis by offering foster care and family support programs to care for children while we help their parents build a more stable home.
Together, we’re working to stop the cycle of child abuse and neglect and strengthen Houston’s families.

Here's how:
Foster Care
Our foster homes provide a safe and caring place for children age 0-6 to live while we work with their parents to create a stable home.
We are one of the few agencies in Houston that accepts voluntary placements, where parents retain custody of their children while in our care and remain involved in key decisions in their child’s life.
Dedicated staff and volunteers undergo extensive trauma-informed training and are deeply committed to providing loving, exceptional care.
Family Support Services
Resolving life’s challenges while parenting is tough. We help parents stabilize their family through a custom plan of service that can include job searching, applying for affordable housing, GED classes, counseling, transportation, and more.
Services continue for as long as a family needs support, ensuring each child has a safe and stable home.

About Us
Casa de Esperanza was founded in 1982 by Kathy Foster and Bill Jones with a $500 gift and the same goal we have today: to see every child in Houston grow up in a safe and stable home that gives them hope.
Since then, we've provided safety for 6,700+ infants and young children in the greater Houston area. Casa de Esperanza has grown into a trauma-informed, integrative program with a secure foster care neighborhood and dedicated community foster families.
By keeping children safe, and by strengthening parents’ ability to provide a stable, safe, and loving home for their children, we are setting families up for long-term success.

Casa de Esperanza is a Houston-based nonprofit breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families through foster care and family support services.
We were founded in 1982 by Kathy Foster and Bill Jones with a $500 gift and the same goal we have today: to see every child in Houston grow up in a safe and stable home that gives them hope.
Since then, we've provided safety for 6,700+ infants and young children in the greater Houston area. Casa de Esperanza has grown into a trauma-informed, integrative program with a gated neighborhood of 10 homes and dedicated community foster families.
By keeping children safe, and by strengthening parents’ stability, we are setting families up for long-term success.
Our holistic services help parents and children before foster care is necessary, while a child is in foster care at Casa, and even after the family has been reunified.
Welcome to our neighborhood!
In 1990, we were gifted 4 acres of land near the Texas Medical Center. In 2008, that land was developed into a private neighborhood. Children learn quickly that the neighborhood is a safe haven where they are free to grow, develop, and play.
Foster parents and their children spend time together in the beautiful green space of the neighborhood, sharing picnics, exploring the playground and natural spaces, or taking the children on “walks” with their wagons or pedal cars.
